Exam Overview


The development of this physician exam is a first step toward the long term goal of achieving specialty recognition of wound care by the American Board of Medical Specialties, American Osteopathic Association and the Council of Podiatric Medical Education. The evolution of specialty recognition may not occur for quite some time. In the interim this exam will provide formal recognition to those practitioners who have substantial expertise in wound management. Sources for review are found on this web site. Additionally there are multiple courses for certification prep offered by multiple organizations. This exam is independent and not affiliated any of the review courses. The American Professional Wound Care Association which is taught by a multidisciplinary faculty as opposed to some other courses that are taught by a one or two instructors.

The Essentials - A Comprehensive Review Course on Wound Care Management and Intervention – a great refresher for all providers in wound care and a intense pragmatic review for certification preparation!!

The lecture schedule is planned for Saturday, January 10  )7:30 AM – 6:30 PM) , and Sunday, January 11,  (8AM – 1PM), allowing registrants to have  limited interference with the daily 5  day working schedule.  Arrive Friday evening and be home for Monday morning hours!
